A fine dining restaurant from chef-owners Thomas Woods and Hayden McFarland.

Focused on seasonal, produce based multi-course tasting menus, Woodland House offers a considered and contemporary fine dining experience that is as intimate as it is luxurious.

Elegant. Innovative. Energetic.

Our Story

Taking over the iconic Melbourne restaurant-formerly-known-as Jacques Reymond in January 2014, chef-owners Thomas Woods and Hayden McFarland are flying the flag for degustation menus, an enviable cellar and classic service with a certain modern flair.

Thomas and Hayden share a joint vision about what a fine dining restaurant should be - Woodland House is the manifestation of this vision.

Thomas, Hayden and the entire Woodland House team look forward to sharing our vision with you.

Our Chefs

Thomas first took to the stoves in 2006 as an enthusiastic apprentice, working his way to the very top of one of Melbourne’s finest kitchens. Woods has always believed that eating should be an experience, not just a meal, nourishing the mind and the soul, as well as the palate and stomach.

Hayden began his career at restaurants like Mercer's in Eltham and Yering Station, before travelling to The Square in London. It was here that he honed his classical technique. Time at the innovative Interlude and 6 years at Jacques Reymond have now brought him here. McFarland’s great love is balancing the beautiful traditions of fine-dining with a modern sense of adventure.
